Council Rock South Captures District 1 Class AAA Spring 2007 Soccer Title

The Lady Hawks of Council Rock South continued their "road to states" in style by capturing the District 1 Class AAA Spring 2007 soccer crown after winning two exciting district playoff games this past week: Tuesday night's District 1 semi-final vs. the Lady Bucks of CB West, and Thursday night's District 1 final vs. the Maidens of North Penn . War Memorial Field in Doylestown was the venue for this year's District 1 semi-finals and final match-ups.

In Tuesday's game, the Lady Bucks scored early and maintained a 1-0 lead through 70 of the game's 80 minutes. However, the Lady Hawks' persistance paid off with 2 goals in the game's final minutes, sealing a 2-1 victory in one of the District 1 AAA semi-finals. (North Penn edged out Neshaminy in an overtime penalty kicks duel during the other semi-final match-up earlier that same evening.)

In Thursday's District 1 championship game, Council Rock South captured the crown with a 2-0 victory over North Penn. The Lady Hawks scored once in each half and held the Maidens scoreless despite what appeared to be a relentless blitz of scoring attempts by North Penn in the second half.

In the following 3-minute multi-media slideshow, we attempted to capture the spirit of a team that remained focused, driven and determined throughout their entire season. Patriots Hold On for Victory Over Titans

Normally, when opposing teams only score one goal each, the score would be tied 1-1. But yesterday, the scoreboard started with CB East leading 8-7 with only 6 minutes 28 seconds remaining in a game suspended due to lightning on May 1st.

One goal by CB South's Chris Mohapp... answered quickly with one goal by CB East's Kyle Quist... followed by a spectacular save by CB East goalie Chase Kulda were the key events finalizing the win for the Patriots. And while this segment of the game was short on time, it definitely wasn't short on intensity and emotion -- as highlighted in the following photos:

The 9-8 win by CB East helps keep the Patriots' hopes alive for both the Suburban One League title as well as "post-season" participation in the upcoming EPSLA Tournament.
